Ich folge Brandons Blog, Humans of New York, nun seit ein paar Monaten. Es gehört zur täglichen Lektüre. Was mich begeistert sind die Geschichten zu den Bildern. Wenn Leute von ihren Sorgen und Nöten berichten. Nun gibt es ein zweites Buch.In einem Interview erklärte der Fotograf, dass er gerade bei Obdachlosen nicht unbedingt wissen will, warum sie auf der Straße leben. Stattdessen fragt er lieber, was sie an ihrer Mutter schätzen oder welchen Rat sie anderen geben würden. Er habe 7 bis 8 Standard-Fragen und je nach der Antwort hakt er nach. Damit schafft er es mit wenigen Sätzen eine Geschichte zu erzählen von Menschen, die man täglich auf den Straßen von New York trifft. Leute wie du und ich. Wie etwa der Mann, der berichtet, noch nie auf der Straße angesprochen worden zu sein. Brandon wäre der erste gewesen. Dieser Herr Stanton hat sich echt Mühe gegeben.Die Stories sind interessant und es macht Spaß in das Leben New Yorks abzutauchen.Habe mir extra die Englische Ausgabe geholt um das Gefühl noch echter werden zu lassen!Gefällt mir sehr. Ist kurzweilig und man kann es auch mal zwei Tage liegen lassen ohne dass man was verpasst!Daumen hoch!!
Die Beschreibungen von Leuten aus "ihrer" Stadt New York sind sehr interessant. Die wunderbare, vielfältige, energiegeladene Stadt mit ihren unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen wird eindrucksvoll beschrieben. Jeder, der New York kennt oder kennenlernen will sollte diese Geschichten lesen - sehr empfehlenswert!
Ich kannte HONY bereits auf Tumblr. Da mir der Style gut gefiel, habe ich dieses Buch für eine Freundin als Geburtstagsgeschenk gekauft. Sie hat sich sehr darüber gefreut. Wie sie sagt, durch dieses Buch werden einem die Augen geöffnet und man fängt an über das Leben und die eigenen Problemen nach zu denken. Dieses Buch zeigt auf wie viele Facetten das Leben hat und hilft uns diese besser zu verstehen.
Habe das Buch sehr genossen und es gerne durchgelesen, ich bin ein großer Fan des Blogs, deshalb kannte ich schon viele Geschichten. Es ist ein inhaltlich sehr wertvolles Buch, und meiner Meinung nach visuell sehr ansprechend.Ich finde, dass einige Fotos nicht ganz so schön platziert sind (z.B. in ihrer Größe oder über die Buchfalte in der Mitte), aber darüber kann ich hinwegsehen.Jeden zu empfehlen, der demütig und lebensfroh werden will!
Dieses Buch ist super. Die Fotos darin sind der Wahnsinn und geben einen neuen Blick auf NY!Kann es nur empfehlenUnd wenn man es ausgelesen hat, macht es sich auch super als Deko auf einem Beistelltischchen...alle meine Besucher hatten es bereits in der Hand und haben darin geschmökert!
HONY ist ein wundervolles Projekt von einem tollen Fotografen. Ich verfolge die Seite schon seit Jahren auf Facebook und bin jedes Mal erstaunt, welche Geschichten die Menschen zu erzählen haben. Da ist wirklich von A-Z alles dabei! Brandon (der Fotograf) weißt es wirklich Menschen authentisch zu fotografieren und die Geschichten wirken nie gestellt.
